Centering around the lives of pre-teen Hispanic twins named Maya and Miguel Santos and their friends, the program is aimed at promoting multiculturalism and education in general. It is geared to the 5-9 age range. Part of the dialogue in each episode in the English version is in Spanish but only individual words or phrases which are explained in English.

Season 1

Mala Suerte
When something goes wrong during breakfast, Maya believes that their apartment is filled with bad luck. Maya asks her friend Maggie if she has any ideas of how they can make the bad luck go away. Luckily, Maggie's Grandmother has a guide to Feng Shui. Maya, Miguel and the rest of their friends misread the guide and follow the instructions. They all help around the house as they redecorate, paint and rearrange the furniture. They all think they did a good Job. When the twin's parents come home everything turns into a mess.

The Matchmaker
When Maya sees her Grandmother Elena dancing cheerfully by herself, she decides that she is lonely. Maya decides to fix her grandmother with a sixty year old bachelor in a blind date. Maya helps Abuela Elena receive a makeover for her blind date. Later in the evening the blind date goes horribly wrong and nothing like Maya expected it to go.

When Maya met Andy
Miguel remembers when Andy one of his best friends came to the city. He remembers how Maya's reaction was toward Andy. Maya felt that since Andy was missing an arm he should be treated with more caution. Maya warned Theo and Miguel not to play sports in front of Andy because he might feel bad. Maya felt that Andy was incapable of playing sports as well as the other boys. Once Maya sees how good Andy plays sports she feels bad and realizes that everybody should be treated equally.

The Autograph
When Paco accidentally ruins Miguel's favorite baseball card, Maya tries to fix the problem. The baseball star Orlando Cruz is coming to town on that weekend. Maya and her friends try to get an autograph from the great baseball player themselves. They try many ideas to get as close as they can to the baseball star. Can Maya get an autograph from Miguel's favorite baseball player? Abuela Elena also makes a new friend. At first she is sitting boreed alone in the bleachers with him. Then his bad habits cause the Grandma to teach him to bite on gum instead of trash.

Rhymes with 'Gato
Chrissy's kitten just recently ran away. Maya and friends help her by looking for the kitten and asking other people if they have seen a kitten. Maggie who is terrible at spanish says that they are missing a ""pato""- a duck. At the end Maya ends up with a duck instead of a ""gato""- a cat.

La Nueva Cocinita
When Maya and Miguel look through Abuela Elena's old Trunk filled with memories they find an unusual thing. It's a Menu of an Old Restaurant with the name ""La Cocinita""- Little Kitchen. Maya sees how her grandma sights and remembers the good memories. Maya gets an idea of making a new restaurant with the same name for her grandma and all of the neighborhood to enjoy.

The Letter
One morning Maya finds an abandoned letter on top of Miguel's desk written to a pretty girl in their class named Esperanza. Maya, Chrissy and Maggie decide that Miguel might need help making friends. The girls tell Esperanza that Miguel is a great athlete and how he is great. It turns out that the note was written by Andy. Maya, Chrissy and Maggie have a lot of explaining to do with Andy, Miguel and Esperanza. The girls do not know what to do now.

Teacher's Pet
When Paco stops talking Maya worries and thinks that he is sick. They take him to the vet and the vet tells Maya that Paco is lonely. Maya decides to take Paco to school. While playing soccer she looses Paco as well as her teacher's parrot ""Mihn."" The two parrots become friends and they talk to each other when they are lonely.
