Based in an imaginary small town called “Lapataganj” (means a lost place), the story is inspired from the writings of Sharad Joshi-who was an eminent Hindi satirist. His wide range of work has highlighted the bitter truth of our society with a satirical punch. These stories while making us laugh; also make us empathize with the situations we face in our daily lives. “Lapataganj” is a town in some part of India which has been long forgotten by the system. The town struggles daily for basic facilities yet the people residing there are the happiest of the lot. The show captures the spirit of a common man to lead a happy life against all odds.

Water Crisis
Mukundi and other villagers are tensed as there is again no water supply. The man who has come to see Sureeli for marriage, rejects her because she is dumb.

Pappu Sneaks Into Sureeli's Room
Mukundi starts his day with a fight with Indumati which spoils his mood. Pappu sneaks into Sureeli's room and starts flirting with her.

The Election Day
Everyone in Lapataganj is busy discussing the upcoming elections in the village. There arises a debate over whether or not the women in the village should cast a vote or not.
Guddu to Write a Love Letter
Pappu tells Guddu that he is scared of expressing his love for Sureeli. He decides to pen down his feelings in a letter. He goes around the village asking for a pen and paper.

Movie Buffs
People in Lapataganj are extremely happy to see that there is a new movie to watch. Indu insists Mukundi takes her to watch the movie whereas Pappu tries his best to take Sureeli for the movie.

The Theatre Shuts Down
The local theatre is overcrowded as everyone is too excited to watch the movie which is currently being shown. The theatre manager is devastated after the district collector gives an order to shut down the theatre permanently.

Malan Devi's Surrender
There are announcements made in the village about Malan Devi surrendering herself near the lake. Indu shows a lot of interest in this and asks Mukundi hundreds of questions regarding the same.

Indu's Wish to See a Dacoit
Most of the people in the village travel to watch Malan Devi's surrender. Indu wakes Mukundi up from his sleep, asking him to take her to watch the surrender. Mukundi ends up giving in when he learns that the entire village is going.
