Barrister JJ Kam (Michael Tse) and Director of Public Prosecutions Chris Fong (Tavia Yeung) used to be cohabiting lovers, but ended up separating due to a failed marriage proposal. Fate has it when JJ makes a job transition to take a position of Prosecutor, resulting in the two working under the same roof once again. With their distinctly different approaches in handling cases, plus the interference of a new secretary (Grace Wong), the already severe crisis in their relationship has been pushed to the edge to an nonredeemable state. As each of them is hesitating over their future, a murder case involving a wealthy businesswoman Pong Tit-sum (Alice Chan) makes them go through an arduous and fierce journey all together.

Episode 1
KAM JO-JAN and FONG TIN-LAM are cohabiting lovers, who have occupied the positions as a lawyer and a prosecutor respectively, leading pre-eminent roles in the legal profession. In the wake of sudden havoc wreaked by some hooligans who intend to collect a protection fee, KAM PO-CHEUNG, the owner of the flourishing CHEUNG CHEUNG Restaurant, erupts to fight against them, and then his two sons, JO-JAN and PO-TI, jointly scare off the hooligans. With a homicide case filed by the Department of Justice, TIN-LAM is in charge of the prosecution, whereas PO-TEI and his co-worker SHEUNG-KING go to the residence of the murder victim MOK WEI-FU, questioning his wife – SHE CHUK-CHING. CHUK-CHING claims that WEI-FU, who suffered from manic disorder, had constantly physically abused her, resulting in her hook-up with the murder suspect NGOK CHING-HUNG……
Episode 2
CHING-HUNG meets up with JO-JAN, questioning him the reason of being a drag on him and even prohibiting JO-JAN from continuously representing him. Seeing that CHING-HUNG strives to safeguard CHUK-CHING regardless of the consequence, JO-JAN feels greatly puzzled. TIN-LAM and the others offer a special surprise to JO-JAN, who ends up not knowing whether to laugh or cry. With PO-TI's awareness of a significant secret learnt from CHUK-CHING's former colleague YI, JO-JAN seizes the opportunity to persuade CHING-HUNG to give a full and frank disclosure of the truth, which is later relayed to the Police Force by JO-JAN. In the private membership club, JO-JAN and TIN-LAM encounter CHUN-TO, who insufferably and arrogantly introduces his pupil PAK-WANG to them, indicating that he will be CHUK-CHING's defense lawyer……

With JO-JAN's assistance, TIN-LAM grasps fresh evidence at a critical point, successfully bringing the real murderer to justice. Getting an order from his senior boss TING-LUNG, PO-TI follows up on a drug trafficking case in a park. While he is attempting to investigate a possible suspicious person, he is accidentally made a fool of by gorgeously dressed MEI-SUN, who is in disguise. In addition, it attracts huge media coverage, leading to his increasing resentment against MEI-SUN. As TIN-LAM and JO-JAN participate in the Hug for Charity Competition, PO-CHEUNG and PO-TI go to root for them, during which PO-TI discovers that MEI-SUN and TIN-LAM are actually fellow students at University. After waking up, TIN-LAM receives a text message from KOO-TIN, so she delightedly goes to meet him……
Episode 4
PO-CHEUNG is accused of inflicting grievous bodily harm upon FEI-FEI, who lapses into a coma after being pushed downstairs, so PO-TI goes to investigate. The intermediary - LAW KAI alleges that it is PO-CHEUNG who pushed FEI-FEI down, which is attested to by Auntie CHAT. In the face of the allegation, PO-CHEUNG does not reconcile himself to it, shouting that he has been vilified and accusing LAW-KAI of telling a pack of lies, so everybody is taken to the police station for investigation. Though knowing that the odds are against PO-CHEUNG, JO-JAN has to put up a smiling face to reassure PO-CHEUNG that he is capable of exculpating him over the accusation. TING-LUNG stops PO-TI from following up the case on the ground of conflict of interest. When defending PO-CHEUNG in the court, JO-JAN suddenly receives the information that FEI-FEI has regained consciousness……
Episode 5
When testifying in the case against PO-CHEUNG, FEI-FEI still claims that she could not remember anything in detail regarding what had happened. In order to revive her memory, JO-JAN plays a short video about her husband, causing FEI-FEI to lose total control of herself then is sent to the hospital. JO-JAN accompanies TIN-LAM to work as a volunteer in a Rehabilitation Centre for the Handicapped and the Elderly, and sees a group of juvenile gangsters bully a young girl, SUEN, who ends up dead. TIN-LAM is assigned to be in charge of the prosecution, but no eyewitness is willing to testify against the juvenile gang leader, CHUN-LIT, of murder. As such, the Department of Justice can only charge him with assisted suicide, which according to TIN-LAM is too trivial and unfair for the victim……
Episode 6
JO-JAN makes his appearance amongst the crowd with a bouquet of flowers in his hand, creating a huge stir. While everybody is expecting TIN-LAM to accept it, TIN-LAM instead pushes her way and runs away through the crowd. Having cooled down a bit, TIN-LAM makes an appointment to meet with JO-JAN first, yet she is still too reluctant to reveal her real doubts to him. With the swift spreading of the video of JO-JAN in the crowded street, he and TIN-LAM have become the talk of the town. KWOK CHING persuades TIN-LAM to take a break, though JO-JAN very much wanted to accompany her, he is turned down by TIN-LAM. PO-TI and the others are in disguise for the purpose of the investigation, during which TUNG-FAI passes by and sees MEI-SUN, but gets caught up in a shooting there. Upon his return to the restaurant, JO-JAN is informed by PO-TI of TIN-LAM's whereabouts in Cheung Chau, so he rushes there in search of her……
Episode 7
Misconstruing that TIN-LAM is seeing someone else, JO-JAN feels so gloomy that he leaves Cheung Chau. He then requests PO-TI and the others to go with him to have a drinking binge in the Karaoke, ending up heavily drunk. The next day, TIN-LAM, who has been comforted by KOO-TIN, intends to disclose everything to JO-JAN, yet the two instead start quarreling again. That evening, JO-JAN returns to TIN-LAM's home to pack personal belongings, following which the two finally break up. MEI-SUN attempts to move out and live alone as she constantly returns back home late due to her shift work, so YEE-HA rents PO-CHEUNG's vacant apartment for her daughter. JO-JAN opts to take up the position of Prosecutor in the Department of Justice, and his first task is to lodge a criminal charge of assault against a weakling, CHI-MAN, whereas the assault victim BIU is a very strapping guy……
Episode 8
Following a reckless driving charge lodged by the Traffic Branch against a celebrity in the city, PONG SAI-BONG, his sister TIT-SUM appoints CHUN-TO as his defense lawyer. With respect to his disadvantaged position during the prosecution process, JO-JAN decides to run the risk and suggests summoning HEI to testify at trial, leading to a successful completion of the prosecution against CHI-MAN. In spite of this, he is detested by TIN-LAM instead. SHEUNG-KING and the others do not know that MEI-SUN is actually from a wealthy family until there is a news report on the injuries suffered by TUNG-FAI. Since then, each of them has been planning on pursuing her. YIK-HANG, TAK-WAH and HONG-YIP are recruited as Legal Trainees of the Department of Justice, but they leave TIN-LAM a bad impression as TIN-LAM saw them leer at hot and voluptuous MO-CHI during their first encounter……
